Working in conjunction with the Silverwood Partnership and the landowners, we had to demonstrate that this 10 acre site, allocated for just 40 units, had the capacity to accommodate a higher number of houses, in order to maximise the land value.
After very careful analysis of the site constraints and, in particular, landscape and environmental health issues, we were able to gain the support of local councillors, the Glastonbury Town Council and the Lord Mayor, who spoke in favour of our application at the planning committee meeting.
Despite an officer recommendation for refusal ,the committee resolved to grant planning consent for a higher number of units, resulting in a substantially increased financial return to the landowner’s. Resolution of all technical issues meant that we were able to achieve the highest possible price in selling the site to David Wilson Homes.
